How do I get visa for Iran?

Transferring your visa application is done after you fill in the requested information needed on the visa form along with the two separate attachments of “group traveler” and “individual traveler”. This is a 10 day long process and starts by sending the application form to the related department. The same visa procedure for the citizens of the U.S., the U.K., Canada and Australia takes 15 to 25 days which makes it longer. The maximum validity for a visa duration is 30 days. You should arrange your travel requirements in advance in terms of internal flights, accommodations, a private car, a guide or a driver guide throughout your trip. The extension of your visa can be done at the foreign ministry bureaus around the country. The country where you like your visa to be collected needs to be determined and you have to inform us when you are trying for the application. For your information, visas are collected at any Iranian embassies around the world even in the U.S. There are specific regulations for American and British passport holders in terms of visa issuance. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Iran does not allow for any independent travelling of American passport holders to the country. Consequently, Americans need to travel as a part of a tour group.
How long can I extend my visa?

You can extend your visa just once if you got your visa at the airport “Visa On Arrival”. Theoretically, the extension of visa may work for 15 additional days. In other words, you are able to double your original visa (from 15 to 30 days). But practically, you may fail to see your demand being accepted for 15 additional days or to receive the desired duration you asked for. The refusal for this extension depends solely on the conditions of the agent you are dealing with. Nonetheless, it would be much easier to extend your visa before your arrival to Iran. This means that before coming to Iran you can get your original 30 days visa from the embassy in your country. The extension is done one or two times meaning your 30 days visa can change into a 90 days visa by applying 2 extensions.
